Day 47: San Ignacio, BZ to Flores, GT

Road traveled on days 47 to 53
After 3 short days in Belize, we were off to Guatemala. It was a brief 20 km ride from San Ignacio to the border. Checking out of Belize took about 15 minutes, whereas it took us about 2 hours to take care of the paperwork at the Guatemalan customs. All in all, it was not bad at all. The process was slow, but not stressful. We kept riding another 80 km to the island of Flores, where we booked a hotel for 2 nights. It is a tiny town build on an island in the middle of a lake. As soon as we arrived in Flores, we bumped into a couple other travelers we have hung out with in San Ignacio, BZ, so once again we met up later that evening for dinner.
